January 31, 2011

Thank you to all the parents for getting their kids to school and on time on the 100th day! All of the kids in our class were here and on time! Thanks again!

This Wednesday is dollar dress down day. If your child brings in a dollar they do not have to wear their uniform.

Cookie dough fundraiser information goes home today.

Next week is Love of Reading week. We will have a lot of fun activities going on to celebrate our love of reading! I will home more information on this later in the week.

Next week I will be sending home a list of the names of the children in our class for Valentine's Day cards. I will also send home some information on what we will be doing for Valentine's Day in our classroom.

Please make sure your child is completing and turning in their homework packet every week! We had quite a few people missing all or part of their homework this past Friday.

Today is the 100th Day of School! Thank you to everyone who had their students at school and on time today!

We do have homework again this week. Please make sure your child is completeing the entire packet! The majority of my class goes to the after school program and the kids have an hour to work on their homework during after school. If you would like your child to work on their homework during the after school program please make sure to send it to school in their folders every day. The reading log must be completed in order for homework to be considered complete. Students who do not complete their homework miss out on free time on Friday.

  • Our Thanksgiving feast is coming up next Tuesday. This feast is for all students. We are asking everyone to contribute something to the feast and first grade is contributing the corn. We are asking that everyone bring a can or two of corn to school by Monday, November 22nd.
  • If your child is bringing a jacket to school please make sure it has your child's name somewhere on it. If they would like to wear it inside the classroom it must be solid red, navy blue or white.
  • The first grade holiday program will be on Thursday, December 16th at 2pm in the cafeteria.
  • Please make sure your child is completing their entire homework packet(including the reading log) and bringing it to school on Friday.
  • There will be no school next Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday November 24-26th. I hope everyone has a fantastic Thanksgiving holiday!

November 8th, 2010

There will be no school this Thursday, November 11th. I hope you have a great day off and I will see everyone back at school on Friday!

Please make sure your child's name is somewhere on their jacket! We have a lot of identical jackets in class and it is easy to get them mixed up.

Our annual Thanksgiving feast is on Tuesday, November 23rd. First grade is in charge of bringing corn to the feast. We are asking that all first graders bring in a can of corn by Monday, November 22nd. Thank you so much for your help with this!

This Wednesday is Duds for Dollar Day. If your child brings a dollar they do not have to wear their uniform.

Book orders are due on Friday. Please send the order form and money to school with your child if you would like to order books.

Bingo night is this Friday at 6pm in the cafeteria! It is free to play bingo and there will be snacks for sale. This is a really fun family event!

This week's spelling words are all contractions. Contractions can be a little bit tricky so I gave fewer words this week. The apostrophe must be in the right place for the word to be counted correct.

I hope you all had a fantastic break! Here are a couple of announcements for you:

Harvest is coming up on October 29th! Please read the Link for more information about tickets, dates and times for Harvest Fest.

It is getting a little bit cold. If your child is bringing a jacket to school and wants to wear it inside it needs to be red, white or blue. Your child can wear any color jacket outside.

Picture retakes are on Tuesday, October 26th . I sent home an order form for those of you who wanted to buy pictures last time and did not get a chance. If you purchased pictures last time but wanted them retaken please send the original picture packet to school with your child.

There are a couple new parts to homework this week. Please make sure your child completes and turns in all parts of the homework.

Thursday is the 40th day of school!! It is so important that every one is here on that day. We will be doing a lot of fun activities and we will be having a pajama day. Your child can wear their pajamas but please make sure they are wearing regular shoes because we have P.E. that day.

Wednesday is dollar dress down day. If your child brings a dollar to school they do not have to wear their uniform. Please make sure their outfit is school appropriate(ex. no flip flips, spaghetti straps, etc.).

If you have egg cartons at home that you don't need please send them to school. These can be used for so many activities in the classroom. The art teacher is also asking that you send newspapers to school.

If your child is having a birthday and would like to bring a treat to share with the class please let me know ahead of time. All food items must be store bought. We have 28 children in our class. Thank you so much for your help with this!

Next Wednesday, October 13th, is the end of the quarter. This is a half day with no after school. Please make arrangements to have your child picked up at 11:30.
