We
have another busy week coming up! This week we will be celebrating Chinese New Year,
Valentine’s Day and Arizona’s Birthday.
It is my favorite week in first grade!
Today
we learned all about Chinese New Year, ask your children about some of the
things we learned today!
We
will have a Valentine’s Day celebration on Thursday. If your child would like
to bring in cards please make sure they bring in one for everyone in the class.
I have had some students ask if they could bring in a snack or treat to share
for Valentine’s Day. They are more than welcome to do so, just please make sure
they bring in enough for every student. We have 30 students in our class.
I
sent home book orders last week. If you would like to order, please send in the
order form and money by Tuesday, February 19th. All checks should be
made out to Scholastic Book Clubs. You can also order online. Go to
scholastic.com and under the parent tab click on “order from book club flyer.”

couple website reminders! You can visit my blog at misscochranlpa.blogspot.com.
You will find the spelling words as well as class announcements there. You can
also use spellingcity.com for your child to practice their spelling words. If
you go to spellingcity.com you can click on the find a list tab near the top of
the page. If you type in Jenna Cochran it should take you to a link to our
spelling lists.
Please
make sure you are reading with your children at home! It makes a HUGE
difference in your child’s reading progress if they are being read to and
practicing their reading at home. I know it can be frustrating at times, but it
really is so important and will help your child so much. We read daily at
school but a little extra one on one attention will make all the difference in
the world.
